My name is Marine, I’m a 18 yo french girl who loves traveling, reading (& watching shows, but that goes without saying).
I finished high school last year and i’m currently doing a prep school (in economics) in the hopes of getting into a business school. I don’t have a specific idea of what i’d like to do, but i definitely want to study or work abroad at some point (especially in the US).
Like many, i love procrastinating, and especially watching shows. My ultimate favorites will forever be QAF US, Gilmore Girls and Friday Night Lights, you’ll find below a list of other shows i love.
Brian & Justin have changed my life. They’re the otp of all otps and although they’re fictional characters, I find their relationship perfect and realistic (and my life will never be complete as long as i won’t find someone that makes me feel the way i feel about them, which, knowing how difficult i am about these things, may very well never happen). Basically, BJ will be the cause of me remaining forever alone.
Also, QAF completely fucked up my mind, because gay people occupy way too much room in my mind. This led my parents to ask me multiple times if i was a lesbian (which i am not), or my friends to buy me gay-related gifts, such as a ‘I LOVE GAYS’ vintage card from Amsterdam, a gay flag from the Castro (which is hanging on the wall above my desk), a gay slang or a card game with pictures of naked men on it from a gay shop in London. Yes, my friends are awesome.
When I’m not watching a show or procrastinating on tumblr, I read. My favorites include a lot of Jodi Picoult (i own most of her novels and i love them), Les Liaisons Dangereuses, The Shining, The Oucast (by Sadie Jones). But no book has ever touched me more than ‘Naked in the rain’ and ‘Afterglow’, by Eowyn Wood. It’s a single story, but divided into two books, and it’s a bit more than a thousand pages. Beware if you start reading it, these books will be the death of you. It got me hopeful and happy and depressed and crying at one in the morning in bed and although i read it last summer (and it’s february of the following year), that story is still on my mind and i often reread some parts.
As for music, I adore Nine Inch Nails (i have most of their songs on my ipod, but don’t know all of them and love randomly discovering them while going through the shuffle mode). Their music is unique and always manages to get to me (especially the instrumental ones). Here are some of my favorites : Closer, And All That Could Have Been, Hurt, Leaving Hope, Sin, Right Where It Belongs (but there are too many really) … I’m also a huge 30 Seconds To Mars fan, especially of their first album. Two years ago, I went to one of their shows in France, definitely one of the best times of my life (and they played two songs from the ST album, which doesn’t happen often). Then there’s McFly. I enjoy listening to their music and find it entertaining but imo, it’s not genius either. However, the guys are awesome, and extremely funny, watching vids of them on YT is a great way to smile after a bad day (and Pudd are the best bromance ever).
Other bands i dig : Placebo, Joy Division, Depeche Mode. I also recently discovered Bon Iver and I adore their songs (especially Blood Bank and the cover I Can’t Make You Love Me).
As i’ve said, i love traveling, especially in english-speaking countries. I’ve been to the US several times (in California, Florida, NY and South Carolina), i’ve always loved it and wished i could stay longer. Same thing for England, though i mostly went there on school trips (and once with my parents for xmas, in London).
